South Louisiana has an amazing water safety resource in Shelly Ripple Rogers and Crawfish Aquatics. Shelly is a former NCAA Champion swimmer and a member of the Stanford Swimming Hall of Fame. Now, as CEO of Crawfish Aquatics, Shelly is able to help families gain the skills to be water prepared for a lifetime. On this episode of ParentingU, Shelly explains to host Stephanie some of the basics about how to talk to kids about water safety (without making water scary); what swim skills can be learned at what ages; practical tips for making the pool a safer place to be; and what a Water Watcher is and how to be a responsible Water Watcher.

Crawfish Aquatics has lots of free resources to help community members be water safe, including certain free classes. Listen to the show and be a part of the ongoing conversation of swimming skills and water safety.
